COMPOSER - MUSICIAN - ARTS ADMINISTRATOR

Blending kinetic energy, lyrical focus, and stories of people and place, composer Oliver Muller writes music that is playful, curious, and emotionally resonant. His works have been commissioned and performed by ensembles including Moorambilla Voices, The Australian Voices, Queensland Conservatorium, and The Hourglass Ensemble.

Shaped by an eclectic background as chorister, percussionist, funk drummer/bassist, and now bassoonist, Oliver studied at both the Queensland Conservatorium and the University of Melbourne alongside ongoing mentorship with Stephen Leek. Ollie’s music always explores themes of connection through relationships to people, place, and memory. Recent highlights include the premiere of his first string quartet, Sydney Opera House’s Utzon Room, a celebrated orchestral commission for conductor Johannes Fritszch, and performance by the Adelaide Horn Jam. 

Now based in Naarm (Melbourne) and developing his practice under the mentorship of composer Melody Eötvös, Oliver worked previously as Operations Coordinator & Music Librarian at the Australian Youth Orchestra preparing music for and travelling with the orchestra. 2026 holds increasing commissions and travel, in particular being commissioned for Moorambilla Voices 21st Anniversary.

A first-generation Australian of primarily Dutch-Indonesian heritage and avid photographer(Two Crows Photography), Oliver draws inspiration equally from the richness of Australia’s landscapes, flora, and fauna, and from the search for connection across cultures. Across his body of work, he combines a wide range of musical influences, narrative focus, and a lyrical emphasis to create music emphasising audience connection and accessibility.
